The Land

_1A.JPG (505289 bytes)Here is my favorite place in the whole wide world... The hammock! I can lie here all day listening to the birds in the trees, watching the fence lizards sun themselves on the firewood pile, and looking for shapes in the clouds. My wife Lillian is sitting on the picnic table and my daughter Catherine is monopolizing the hammock in this picture..

_6A.JPG (911962 bytes)This is a view of the shed from the "driveway". We spent a lot of time clearing the trees and a couple of months later the stumps are already sprouting new leaves. Mother Nature is sure persistent...

_8A.JPG (827137 bytes)Here's the shed and hammock from another angle. The stumps are re-sprouting over and over again even though I keep cutting them. Life seems to always find a way to survive....

_10A.JPG (792452 bytes)This is the shed from the front showing our Amish good luck "hex" sign.

_11A.JPG (677193 bytes)Here's the "information dirt road" that runs by the front of our land. The state saw fit to "pave" it last year. Didn't make me too happy since "civilization" is creeping up on us. Now they've just buried "coax" cable down the side of the road. Can 200 channels of home shopping network be far off????

_12A.JPG (719226 bytes)This is the beginnings of our driveway. 17 tons of stone showed up in a big pile one day and I spent the next several weeks spreading it along the new driveway with nothing more than an iron rake, a shovel, and my trusty, rusty old Craftsman lawn tractor. Who needs a gym when all that stone needs shoveling. 150 feet done and only 1850 more to go.
